SAMUEL L Jackson has joined the ever-expanding cast of MGM/Sony’s Robocop remake.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor will play Pat Novak, described as a charismatic media mogul and a powerful force in the Robocop world.

Jose Padilha is directing the reboot, which sees Joel Kinnaman (of TV’s The Killing fame) playing the eponymous hero, a cop named Alex Murphy who is brought back to life from the brink of death and turned into a cyborg police officer.

Jackson’s casting follows that of Gary Oldman, who recently signed on to play Robocop’s scientist-creator.

The movie should go before the cameras in September with a view to being ready for a release date sometime during the summer of 2013.
