Story by Jack Foley
SANDRA Bullock’s latest movie, The Blind Side, has topped the US box office in its third week of release, beating The Twilight Saga: New Moon.
The film, which follows the true story of a homeless, traumatized boy who became an All American football player with the help of a caring woman (Bullock) and her family, grossed a further $20.4 million to take its total to $129.3 million since release.
New Moon continued to perform well, grossing $15.7 million in its third week to take its US tally so far to a whopping $255.6 million. The teen vampire sensation pulled in a further $40.7 million overseas to bring its worldwide total to $570.1 million.
Of the new releases, war drama Brothers, starring Tobey Maguire, Natalie Portman and Jake Gyllenhaal, opened in third with $9.7 million, while action film Armored took an estimated $6.6 million to tie for sixth spot with Sony’s own 2012.
George Clooney’s Oscar-tipped Up In The Air also debuted well, despite only opening in limited release.

Good to see something uplifting like The Blind Side knock off that dreary Twilight crap.
