Shane Black to direct The Destroyer
Story by Jack Foley
SHANE Black is to direct an adaptation of adventure book series The Destroyer.
The Iron Man 3 director has been charged with bringing the 1970’s-era action book series to life, which focuses on police officer Remo Williams.
Sony Pictures will distribute the movie and announced Black’s involvement on Thursday.
Columbia’s president of production, Michael De Luca, said in a statement: “The Destroyer is a two-fisted classic and deserves no less than the genius of Shane Black. We couldn’t be more excited about his vision for this character.”
It is not yet known when work will commence on the project given how in-demand Black now is following the box office success of Iron Man 3.
He is also set to direct Nice Guys, a thriller featuring Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe, as well as directing and co-writing the action title Doc Savage (also for Sony’s Columbia Pictures).
And he has been tasked by 20th Century Fox with rebooting the Predator series.
His previous work includes the classics Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and The Last Boy Scout (the latter for which he wrote the screenplay).
