Shaun The Sheep sequel in the works at Aardman

Shaun The Sheep Movie 2

Story by Jack Foley

A SEQUEL to animated hit film Shaun The Sheep Movie has been announced by Aardman Animation.

The Bristol-based producer said that work on Shaun The Sheep Movie 2 was set to begin in January 2017, with Richard Starzak back on board as director.

However, Mark Burton, who co-directed the first film, will not return.

David Sproxton, co-founder and executive chairman of Aardman, who are renowned for making the Wallace and Gromit films, said in a statement: “The flock are very excited to be embarking on another big screen adventure – a rip-roaring comedy that takes them to even greater heights of lunacy.”

Shaun The Sheep Movie 2 continues the production partnership with Aardman and StudioCanal following the success of Shaun The Sheep Movie, which grossed $106 million worldwide and Nick Park’s highly anticipated new prehistoric comedy adventure, Early Man, which is currently in production.

The character of Shaun originated in Nick Park’s 1995 Oscar-winning short A Close Shave before becoming the central figure in a highly successful TV series, Shaun the Sheep, which debuted on the CBBC channel in 2007.
