Shia LaBeouf and Bruce Willis join Bill Murray on Rock The Kasbah
Story by Jack Foley
SHIA LaBeouf and Bruce Willis have joined the cast of Barry Levinson’s Rock The Kasbah.
The actors will join the previously announced Bill Murray in the indie comedy, which has also recruited Kate Hudson, Danny McBride and Zooey Deschanel to its ranks.
The film will follow the story of Richie Vance, a a has-been rock manager who takes his last remaining client on a tour of Afghanistan
However, when Richie finds himself abandoned, penniless and without his passport in Kabul, he discovers a young girl with an extraordinary voice and manages her through Afghanistan’s version of American Idol, the popular Afghan Star.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, shooting on the movie is due to start in June.
Levinson himself commented that he “couldn’t have dreamed of a more perfect team of comedy actors” to help put the film together.
The casting news is generating a lot of raised eyebrows given that it marks a U-turn of sorts for LaBeouf, who Tweeted just two weeks ago that he had decided to retire from “all public life” because of “attacks against his artistic integrity”.
