Shrek The Third receives UK premiere

Story by Jack Foley
CAMERON Diaz was reunited with former boyfriend Justin Timberlake at the star-studded UK premiere of their film Shrek the Third.
The glamourous duo were among a host of celebrities at the Leicester Square bash, including Shrek co-stars Mike Myers, Antonio Banderas and Rupert Everett.
The latest Shrek film, which has already set an animated record in America, finds Myers, Diaz, Banderas and Eddie Murphy reprising their popular roles as Shrek, Princess Fiona, Puss in Boots and Donkey for a third adventure.
Timberlake, meanwhile, lends his vocals to the new character of Artie (or King Arthur), a new character.
The pair added their voices to the film while they were still a couple – but they announced they had split after a three year relationship in January.
However, they kissed on the cheek in front of hundreds of fans and cameras in London’s Leicester Square and seemed in good spirits along with the rest of the cast, following a day of press events (including a photo call at London’s Tower Bridge).
When asked whether she would appear in any future films, Diaz told reporters that it was a privilege to be part of such a well-loved franchise and would love to play Princess Fiona again.
And it seems the chance to do so won’t be far off, as producer Jeffrey Katzenberg, head of DreamWorks Animation, revealed that more Shreks are on the way, with a fourth instalment to be filmed in 3D along with a possible series [possibly a half-hour Christmas TV special].
Timberlake earlier told journalists that playing Artie was like being a boy all over again, especially in terms of preparation and using your imagination to get into character.
And he confirmed that he would love to do more movies following critically acclaimed performances in films like Alpha Dog and Black Snake Moan.
As part of the Shrek promotional tour, Myers, Antonio Banderas, Rupert Everett and Diaz also paid a surprise visit to the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, during which they met some of the patients on the wards and posed for pictures with a life-sized Shrek character.
