Sister Act being remade by Disney

Sister Act

Story by Jack Foley

WHOOPI Goldberg box office hit Sister Act is being re-made by Disney.

The 1992 movie saw Goldberg playing a singer who is forced to disguise herself as a nun while on the run from the mob.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney has hired Kirsten ‘Kiwi’ Smith and Karen McCullah, the writers behind Legally Blonde and The House Bunny, to work on a script.

Disney was the studio behind the original Sister Act, which became one of the highest grossing films of its year, and which spawned a sequel, Back In The Habit, as well as a musical stage show.

It is not known whether Goldberg will be involved in the remake, or whether original co-stars Harvey Keitel (who played Goldberg’s mobster boyfriend) and Maggie Smith (who played the reverend mother of the convent where Goldberg hides out) will cameo.
