Skyfall continues to shatter UK box office records

JAMES Bond movie Skyfall has continued to shatterbox office records in the UK, having already enjoyed the biggest 007 opening weekend of all-time.

The film is now officially the highest-grossing opener of 2012 having taken over £20 million ahead of The Avengers (£15 million) and The Dark Knight Rises (£14 million).

It is also the highest-grossing debut for a Daniel Craig 007 film, beating Casino Royale (£13 million) and Quantum of Solace (£15 million).

Elsewhere at the UK box office, animated movie Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted fell to second spot with £2.8 million, while Taken 2 came third with £1 million.

Paranormal Activity 4 and Hotel Transylvania rounded out the top five.
