Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Story by Jack Foley

A LIMITED run of 1,000 commemorative bank notes are to be made available via eBay’s Star Wars shop to celebrate the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi in cinemas on December 14, 2017.

The notes will be available along with 50 unique premium notes that are going up for auction.

The special notes are priced at £100 and are approved and printed by De La Rue, the British banknote manufacturer.

Fans can expect Star Wars imagery as well as an array of special features, including emblems of The First Order and The Resistance, hidden scenes that are only visible under a UV light and the signature of writer/director Rian Johnson.

The notes support the Star Wars: Made GREAT in Britain initiative, which exists to celebrate the fact that the franchise has long been filmed in the UK. The first film, directed by George Lucas and called A New Hope, was shot at Elstree Studios in Hertfordshire in 1977.

All money raised from the commemorative notes will be donated to Together for Short Lives, a UK-based charity supporting children’s hospices and children with life-threatening or life-limiting conditions.

The donations will be made on behalf of Star Wars: Force for Change, a charitable initiative designed to ‘empower and improve the lives of children around the world’.

The sale of the 1,000 notes will begin on December 7, with 50 premium notes up for auction for 10 days until Sunday, December 17, 2017.
