Story by Jack Foley

STEVE Carell is in talks to join Warner Bros.’ big-budget Minecraft movie.

The feature will be based on the video game of the same name, which is now reportedly the second best-selling game of all time.

The studio has enlisted director Rob McElhenney to helm the project and they are now in the process of putting together an ensemble cast/

The plot would be set in a cube-rich environment where players have avatars to build and destroy their worlds.

To date, game to film adaptations have proven a difficult thing to tackle for studios, with few – if any – adaptations garnering good reviews or massive box office. This year’s Warcraft movie was universally panned and flopped in the US, despite enjoying better prospects overseas.

Carell will next be seen playing Bobby Riggs opposite Emma Stone as Billie Jean King in the true-life tennis tale Battle of the Sexes.
