Steve Carell star vehicle in development
Story by Jack Foley
STEVE Carell is to star as a father who has to juggle marital problems with his relationship with his children in a new, as-yet untitled comedy-drama.
Warner Bros is developing the star vehicle, which is based on a ‘spec script’ by Dan Fogelman, the man who wrote Cars. The distributor is believed to have secured the rights to the project in a deal worth between $2 million and $2.5 million.
The story has a tone comparable to Love Actually, according to Variety.
In addition to Cars, Fogelman also wrote the Disney film Bolt as well as Last Vegas, which is being directed by Peter Chelsom early next year.
He has also recently completed My Mother’s Curse, which is being developed by Paramount as a star vehicle for Barbra Streisand under the direction of Ann (The Proposal) Fletcher.
