Steven Knight to write World War Z sequel

World War Z

Story by Jack Foley

STEVEN Knight has been hired to write the sequel to Brad Pitt blockbuster World War Z.

The British screenwriter is previously best known for penning the screenplays to critical hits Eastern Promises and current Tom Hardy drama Locke on the big screen, as well as Peaky Blinders on the BBC.

It has not yet been revealed what direction the follow-up will take but Pitt is expected to reprise his role as a United Nations employee who travels the world in a bid to stop a zombie plague.

Juan Antonio Bayona (of The Impossible and The Orphanage fame) was hired to direct in December and will now work closely with Knight on the script.

The original World War Z, based on the book by Max Brooks, was one of last summer’s surprise box office hits, grossing $202 million in the US and $540 million worldwide.
