TAYLOR Kitsch is to star alongside Brendan Gleeson in The Grand Seduction.

A remake of the 2003 French film titled La Grande Séduction, the film will tell the story of Tickle Cove, a small harbour town in financial decline that is forced to resort to desperate measures.

Gleeson will play a character named Murray French who leads the search for a resident doctor so the town can land a contract to get a factory built in the area, while Kitsch is set to play Dr Paul Lewis, who the town intends to keep in their midst for good.

Don McKellar is due to direct the film, which is based on a script by Ken Scott, the man behind the original French version.
