Ted and Bourne to get sequels
Story by Jack Foley
COMEDY hit Ted is to get a sequel along with another Bourne movie.
Universal Pictures CEO Steve Burke confirmed the news to The Hollywood Reporter.
Speaking at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch 2012 Media, Communications and Entertainment conference in Los Angeles, Burke said that the studio intends to begin work on Ted 2 “as soon as we can”.
He also said that it is keen to bring back Jeremy Renner in a new Bourne movie with the long-term goal of possibly teasing Matt Damon back to the franchise.
Burke went on to say that Universal placed a big emphasis on “franchises and animation” as part of its business strategy, citing the success of Despicable Me, which has a sequel and a ‘minions’ spin-off in the works, as evidence of how such films please audiences and generate massive revenue.
On the animation front, the studio plans to release a film every 18 months with the intention eventually of putting out two such movies a year.
