The Butterfly Effect to get remake treatment

The Butterfly Effect

Story by Jack Foley

ASHTON Kutcher’s The Butterfly Effect looks set to get a remake.

The original sci-fi thriller, starring Kutcher and Amy Smart, was released in 2004 and made $96 million globally on a budget of $13 million. It also spawned a couple of direct-to-DVD sequels.

But according to Variety, FilmEngine and Benderspink are teaming up for a reboot with original writer-director Eric Bress attached to pen the new script.

The plot follows Kutcher’s central character as he travels back in time to change the present by altering what he had done in his past — only to learn that changing several childhood traumas created unintended consequences.
