ANNE Hathaway and Christian Bale have both now released statements in regards to the Batman cinema shooting in Colorado.

Hathaway, who plays Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises, said: “My heart aches and breaks for the lives taken and altered by this unfathomably senseless act.

“I am at a loss for words how to express my sorrow. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.”

Her comments were released by CBS.

Bale, meanwhile, told the website TMZ: “Words cannot express the horror that I feel. I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them.”

Their comments echoed those of director Christopher Nolan who said on Friday that the incident had left him devastated.

As America (and the world) continues to come to terms with the aftermath of the senseless shootings in Colorda, Warner Bros also cancelled scheduled appearances for the cast in Mexico and Japan, in addition to the Paris premiere.

They also declined to report the film’s weekend box office out of respect for the victims and their family.

Twelive people were killed and 58 injured at a film screening in Aurora on Friday, July 20.
