The Hunger Games and Jennifer Lawrence dominate People's Choice Awards

IT WAS all about The Hunger Games at the 2013 People’s Choice Awards as the film landed three top awards itself and three trophies for leading lady Jennifer Lawrence.

The folm took favourite movie, action movie and favourite movie franchise, while Lawrence was crowned favourite movie actress and favourite face of heroism.

In addition, she won the award for onscreen chemistry along with co-stars Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth.

The awards were presented on Wednesday night (January 9, 2013) at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live, with The Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco hosting for a second time.

Another big winner in the film categories was Robert Downey Jr, who was voted favourite movie actor and favourite movie superhero for his role as Iron Man.

Ted was named best comedy and The Perks of Being a Wallflower, co-starring Emma Watson, was named favourite drama movie.

While there were also prizes for Chris Hemsworth as favourite action movie star, Zac Efron and Emma Watson, who took home the drama acting nods, and Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston, who were the winners in the comedy acting categories.

Meryl Streep was voted favourite movie icon.

Among the small screen winners on the night were annual favourites The Big Bang Theory, which was named favourite network comedy, and Grey’s Anatomy, which took favourite network drama.

Awkward and Leverage took cable comedy and drama honours, while True Blood won for premium cable and The X Factor emerged as a multiple winner for favourite competition TV show and favourite celebrity judge for Demi Lovato.

Glee‘s Chris Colfer and Lea Michele won individual prizes for comedy TV actor and actress, respectively, while Nathan Fillion triumped in the drama category for Castle along with Grey’s Anatomy‘s Ellen Pompeo.

The New Normal and Beauty & The Beast were cited as favorite new shows.
