The Hunger Games: Catching Fire to get London world premiere
Story by Jack Foley
THE world premiere of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is to be held in London.
The star-studded event will take place on November 11, 11 days ahead of its international day-and-date general release later that month on November 22.
The keenly-anticipaed sequel is directed by Francis Lawrence from a script by Simon Beaufoy and Michael DeBruyn.
Leading lady Jennifer Lawrence, who is expected to attend the premiere with director Lawrence and several co-stars, recently revealed that her character, Katniss Everdeen, is “struggling with post-traumatic stress” following the events of the first film.
Picking up in the aftermath of those events, the film finds Katniss back home upon winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games as joint victor with Peeta Mellark (JOsh Hutcherson) but targeted by the Capitol as a possible threat to peace and in danger.
The film’s director, meanwhile, has also let slip that the film will contain differences from the book on which it is based, although he has been working closely with author Suzanne Collins to ensure the film stays true to the novels.
The sequel stars also Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Sam Claflin, Jena Malone, Jeffrey Wright, Stanley Tucci and Donald Sutherland.
