A SEQUEL to The Inbetweeners Movie has been confirmed for August 2014.

Co-creators Iain Morris and Damon Beesley announced the news in a statement, ending months of speculation about the possible return of the characters.

The statement reads: “We couldn’t be more excited to be making another Inbetweeners movie with Simon, Joe, James and Blake.

“Frankly, it’s pathetic how much we’ve all missed each other. A new chapter in the lives of the Inbetweeners feels like the very least we can do to thank the fans for their phenomenal response to the first movie.”

That first movie grossed more than £41 million at the UK box office in the summer of 2011, surpassing expectation and out-performing bigger budget blockbusters such as Prince of Persia and Cowboys & Aliens.

The sequel will shoot later this year with main quartet Will (Simon Bird), Jay (James Buckley), Neil (Blake Harrison) and Simon (Joe Thomas) all confirmed to return.
