The Muppets sequel named and synopsis revealed
Story by Jack Foley
THE sequel to The Muppets will be called The Muppets… Again!.
Disney confirmed the name in a statement as well as revealing what the story will be about and who will guest star.
According to the synopsis, the follow-up takes the entire Muppets gang on a global tour, selling out grand theaters in some of Europe’s most exciting destinations, including Berlin, Madrid and London.
“Mayhem follows the Muppets overseas, as they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine – the World’s Number One Criminal and a dead ringer for Kermit – and his dastardly sidekick Dominic, aka Number Two, portrayed by Ricky Gervais.
“The film stars Tina Fey as Nadya, a feisty prison guard, and Ty Burrell as Interpol agent Jean Pierre Napoleon.”
Neither of the first film’s leading duo, Jason Segel or Amy Adams, will return for the second film but the new movie returns director James Bobbin and Oscar-winning songwriter Bret McKenzie.
Bobbin said of the film: “It’s great to be back working with The Muppets, some of them even remember my name occasionally now!
“As for the movie, it’s a tip of the hat to the old-school crime capers of the ’60s, but featuring a frog, a pig, a bear and a dog – no panthers, even pink ones – along with the usual Muppet-y mix of mayhem, music and laughs.”
The film is due out in American cinemas on March 21, 2014.
