Think Like A Man

A NEW ensemble comedy named Think Like A Man has beaten Zac Efron’s The Lucky One to the top of the US box office and, in doing so, scored one of the best openings of all-time for an African-American themed film.

The film took $33 million and also has the honour of knocking “The Hunger Games”: off the top spot for the first time in four weeks.

Adapted from Steve Harvey’s best-selling advice book Act Like a Lady, Think Like A Man stars Michael Ealy, Jerry Ferrara, Meagan Good, Regina Hall and Kevin Hart and follows four men whose love lives are disrupted when their partners begin using advice from Harvey’s book.

In what proved another robust weekend for the US box office, Efron’s The Lucky One, adapted from the novel by Nicholas Sparks, still managed to come in second with a better-than-expected $22.8 million to further boost its leading man’s box office credentials post High School Musical.

The Hunger Games, meanwhile, fell to third spot, grossing a further $14.5 million for a US total of $357 million, while Disneynature documentary Chimpanzee took an unexpected fourth spot with $10.2 million to record the best opening yet for a Disneynature film.

The Three Stooges rounded out the top five with $9.2 million.
