Tim Burton to direct Christoph Waltz and Amy Adams

Tim Burton directs Alice in Wonderland

Story by Jack Foley

TIM Burton is to direct Christoph Waltz and Amy Adams in true life drama Big Eyes.

Based on the relationship between Walter and Margaret Keane, the film looks set to star Waltz and Adams, who are in negotiations to play the couple.

The Keanes rose to prominence in the art world and mainstream for their popular paintings of big-eyed children in the 1950s and ’60s before falling out.

The film will focus on a decades-long dispute between the two following their 1965 divorce over who actually painted the pictures.

The dispute was eventually settled when a judge ordered the couple to paint in court. Walter lost and had to pay out millions, although he continued to dispute the outcome.

Burton has come on board to direct from a script by Larry Karaszewski and Scott Alexander, who had originally been attached to direct with Ryan Reynolds and Reese Witherspoon on board. But that incarnation fell through over financing.
