Tom Cruise developing Jack Reacher sequel

Jack Reacher

TOM Cruise is reportedly developing a sequel to Jack Reacher at Paramount.

According to both Deadline and Variety, the follow-up will be based on Never Go Back, the 18th book in Lee Child’s series, which was published in September this year.

The plot finds Reacher heading to the Virginia headquarters of his old military unit, only to be arrested for a crime he doesn’t remember committing 16 years earlier.

As yet, Paramount hasn’t selected a director and is actively seeking a writer. Christopher McQuarrie directed the first Jack Reacher from his own script. He is currently working with Cruise on Mission: Impossible 5.

The original film grossed $216 million worldwide despite initial scepticism surrounding Cruise’s physical suitability for the role from die-hard Reacher fans.
