Tom Cruise linked to Clint Eastwood's A Star Is Born with Beyonce

TOM Cruise has reportedly been offered the chance to star alongside Beyonce in Clint Eastwood’s A Star Is Born.

According to Variety, the actor – soon to be seen playing an ’80s rock star in Rock of Ages – is being courted by Warner Bros. and New Line for the forthcoming project.

The big question remains whether Cruise’s schedule will permit his participation.

At the moment, the Mission: Impossible star is committed to shooting Joseph Kosinski’s untitled sci-fi project next and then is attached to Doug Liman’s All You Need Is Kill, although that is also for Warners.

Variety has said that no negotiations have taken place yet but the studio is believed to have spoken to Cruise to gauge his interest – and he hasn’t declined.

If a deal can be reached, however, the film would see Cruise playing the plumb role of an over-the-hill musician who falls for a young singer (Beyonce) who he’s trying to help make a star.

You can see Warner’s eagerness to revive the movie given the success of the similarly-themed Oscar winner The Artist.
