TOM Hardy is looking to develop gritting comic book series 100 Bullets into a movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Mad Max star is working with New Line to adapt a big screen version of the acclaimed comic book series by Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso.

Running for 100 issues from 1999 to 2009, the comics focused on an enigmatic man named Agent Graves (possibly played by Hardy) as he presents different people with a gun, the identity of the person who ruined their lives and a hundred rounds of untraceable ammunition. The agent’s motives remained unclear but, over the course of the series, a saga emerged.

Hardy, who also played the villain Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, is already on board to produce the adaptation and is reportedly keen to star.

A script is already in place by Chris Borrelli, whose credits include the recent supernatural horror movie The Vatican Tapes.

Plot details are being kept under wraps but, according to insiders, the plan is to stay true to the comic.

Hardy will shortly be seen playing the Kray twins in Legend. He also won widespread acclaim for his performance as Max in Mad Max: Fury Road earlier this summer and has “The Revenant”: alongside Leonardo DiCaprio still to come.
