Tom Hardy for Splinter Cell

TOM Hardy has reportedly landed the lead role in a movie adaptation of Ubisoft video game Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell.
The film would see Hardy playing the lead character, Sam Fisher, a highly trained special operative in a fictional black-ops division. He and his team battle international terrorists.
Eric Singer is writing the script, according to The Hollywood Reporter, although as yet no other names are attached and no director has emerged.
Splinter Cell has become one of Ubisoft’s biggest selling titles. It debuted in 2002 and has since spawned five other game installments with a sixth, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Blacklist, set for release in spring 2013.
According to Ubisoft, more than 23 million units of the game have been sold.
Hardy, who recently starred as Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, is currently in Namibia shooting Mad Max: Fury Road.
