Tom Hardy, Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire developing animal trafficking drama

Warrior, Tom Hardy

Story by Jack Foley

TOM Hardy is to work with Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire on an untitled animal trafficking drama that he has developed the idea for.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is intended to be made in the style of Steven Soderbergh’s Traffic, multi-story take on the various impacts of the war on drugs.

In this case, however, the story would expose issues such as the ground war on poachers in the African savanna to how animal material ends up in the fashion houses of Paris.

At this stage, it has not been announced whether Hardy, DiCaprio or Maguire intend to star in the movie but all three look set to produce and develop the project. A writer and director have yet to be employed too, although the search has begun for the former.

Hardy has previously worked with DiCaprio on Christopher Nolan’s Inception, while DiCaprio and Maguire are life-long friends and soon-to-be co-stars for Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby.

DiCaprio is also a long-time animal-rights activist.
