Tom Hardy to play British war photographer Don McCullin

Warrior, Tom Hardy

Story by Jack Foley

TOM Hardy is to play famed British war photographer Don McCullin.

The as-yet untitled film will be based on McCullin’s autobiography, Unreasonable Behavior, which has been adapted by ’71 scribe Gregory Burke.

It is expected to trace McCullin’s journey from poverty-stricken childhood in wartime London to becoming one of the world’s most famous war photo-journalists.

McCullin is now best known for his often harrowing images taken during the wars in Vietnam and Cambodia, while with the Observer and Sunday Times.

Aside from war photography, he is also known for a memorable series chronicling homelessness in east London in 1969.

McCullin has previously been the subject of the 2012 documentary McCullin, directed by David and Jacqui Morris.

Hardy is fresh off the back of his first Oscar nomination for The Revenant. He also has Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk in production, as well as Elton John biopic Rocketman.
