Warrior, Tom Hardy

Story by Jack Foley

TOM Hardy is to star as legendary American gangster Al Capone in Fonzo.

Written and directed by Josh Trank, of Chronicle and Fantastic Four fame, the film will focus on Capone at the age of 47, following nearly a decade of imprisonment, as dementia rots his mind and his violent past comes back to haunt him.

The film is being handled internationally by the company Bloom, which put out the following statement by Alex Walton on Hardy’s casting.

Fonzo brings together the myth and lore of notorious American gangster Al Capone, with the undeniable talent of Tom Hardy and Josh Trank. We are thrilled to bring this film to buyers at the AFM.”

Hardy is no stranger to playing real-life gangster figures. He first shot to prominence playing Bronson before recently winning widespread acclaim for his dual role as the Kray twins in Legend.

He is currently shooting Dunkirk with Christopher Nolan.
