Twins sequel in works for Schwarzenegger, DeVito and Eddie Murphy

Story by Jack Foley

IN the kind of film story that would seem better suited to April Fool’s Day, it would appear that a sequel to hit comedy Twins is in the works – with a twist.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the follow-up would be called Triplets and would see Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito returning as brothers Julius and Vincent, who were conceived experimentally, and discovering they have third sibling.

The third sibling in question would take the form of Eddie Murphy.

The project is only in the earliest stages of development by Universal and Montecito Picture Co and, as yet, has no director attached, although Ivan Reitman, who helmed the original, would only act as a producer.

However, the actors are reportedly attached to star and the search if now on for a writer who can further develop the idea into script form.

The original Twins was released in 1988.

Another film released that year that’s already being given the sequel treatment by Universal is Midnight Run, which will see Robert De Niro returning in an incarnation to be directed by Brett Ratner.
