Fast & Furious 6

UNIVERSAL has set a release date for Fast & Furious 7 and announced a sequel to Pitch Perfect.

Chairman Adam Fogelson made the dual announcements during the distributor’s presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, while also introducing clips from the forthcoming Fast & Furious 6 (out in May) and other titles such as Kick-Ass 2, RIPD, Despicable Me 2 and 2 Guns.

Declaring that Fast & Furious 7 would probably be “the biggest one of all”, he said the film would be in cinemas in the US on July 11, 2014 – just over a year from now.

James Wan will also replace Justin Lin as director. The latter opted to depart due to the time constraints in getting two films made in quick succession.

Fogelson also announced that Pitch Perfect writer Kay Cannon has been signed on to pen a sequel to the musical sleeper hit, which is currently set for release sometime in 2015.

A sequel to Snow White & The Huntsman will also be released in 2015 as well.

And there are also plans for a spin-off to Despicable Me, entitled Minions, which is due to hit cinemas in 2014.
