Untitled X-Files Movie Sequel moves into production
Story by Jack Foley
THE first photos have been released from the as yet untitled X-Files Movie Sequel, which reunites David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as agents Mulder and Scully.
The film is due for release in UK cinemas on August 1, 2008, and is being directed and co-written by original series creator Chris Carter (with the help of Frank Spotnitz).
The photos show Mulder and Scully behind a computer and walking a corridor – but certainly succeed in offering a tantalising glimpse of the duo back in action.
In grand X-Files manner, the story line is being kept under wraps, although it will be a stand-alone story in the tradition of some of the show’s most acclaimed and beloved episodes.
It will also take the complicated relationship between Fox Mulder and Dana Scully in unexpected directions.
Mulder will continue his unshakeable quest for the truth and Scully, the passionate, ferociously intelligent physician, remains inextricably linked to Mulder’s pursuits.
It is not thought that the film will feature any steamy scenes between the two as both stars have reportedly refused to indulge in such sequences.
Since The X-Files wrapped on TV screens in 2002, Duchovny has found further fame and Golden Globe success on TV’s Californication, while Anderson has appeared in films such as The Last King of Scotland and Straightheads.
