VIN Diesel was the top box office draw of 2017, according to Forbes.

The actor amassed $1.6bn in global box office takings thanks to roles in Fast & Furious 8 and xXx: Return of Xander Cage. He also provided the voice of Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson came second, with $1.5bn. He also featured in Fast & Furious 8 as well as Baywatch and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.

In third place was Gal Gadot, who struck a blow for feminism with her star lead performance in box office smash Wonder Woman and her part in the Justice League ensemble.

Emma Watson came fourth, as her version of Beauty & The Beast proved to be the year’s biggest earner at global box offices.

And Johnny Depp came fifth, one place ahead of his Murder On The Orient Express co-star Daisy Ridley, who has Star Wars: The Last Jedi counting towards her total.

Elsewhere in the top 10 were Spider-Man: Homecoming‘s British star Tom Holland, Guardians of the Galaxy‘s Chris Pratt, Thor‘s Chris Hemsworth and Stsr Wars‘ John Boyega, who also enjoyed critical success with his hard-hitting drama Detroit. It obviously pays to play a superhero!
