Werner Herzog to direct high school shooting film

WERNER Herzog is to direct an adaptation of the Booker Prize-winning novel, Vernon God Little.
Written by DBC Pierre, the Texas-based story follows the fortunes of a teenager whose best friend goes on a high-school shooting spree.
The veteran director announced he would be directing the feature at an event in Berlin on Monday. It will be based on an adapted script by Andrew Birkin (The Name of the Rose).
Herzog’s most recent drama feature was My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done? in 2009, starring Michael Shannon, Willem Dafoe and Chloe Sevigny.
More recently, he has received praise for his 3D documentary Cave of Forgotten Dreams and the death row docs Into The Abyss and On Death Row.
He will next be seen in front of the camera alongside Tom Cruise in Jack Reacher.
