What Hoffman did next...

Philip Seymour Hoffman in Capote

Story by Jack Foley

NO SOONER has Philip Seymour Hoffman finished celebrating his Oscar win for Capote, then he is back to work on new movie, The Savages.

The best actor is joining Laura Linney in the dramedy for Fox Searchlight Pictures, which is being written and directed by Tamara Jenkins.

The film follows a pair of adult siblings (Hoffman, Linney) who are forced to take care of their estranged but ailing elderly father who never took care of them.

Needless to say, they are forced to confront the legacy of their upbringing and take on the realities of familyl responsibility.

Among the film’s many executive producers is Alexander Payne, of Sideways fame.

Hoffman has won many friends for his portrayal of Truman Capote in Bennett Miller’s acclaimed biopic – as well as for the way he has graciously accepted his awards.

He will next be seen in the blockbuster Mission Impossible III, lining up alongside Tom Cruise as the villain of the piece.
