8 Minutes Idle

Compiled by Jack Foley

RELEASING in selected cinemas and digitally on February 14, 2014, 8 Minutes Idle is a contemporary British comedy about life in a British call centre starring Tom Hughes (Cemetery Junction), Ophelia Lovibond (Nowhere Boy), Antonia Thomas (Misfits) and British comedy legend Paul Kaye, based on the award-winning novel by Matt Thorne.

Dan, early 20’s, has his hopes of living an easy life turned upside down when a row with his mother resorts him to secretly moving into the call centre where he works with just his most prized possessions and his cat.

A complex web of secrets and lies lead Dan into a series of increasingly bizarre and uncompromising scenarios and he is gradually stripped of everything he has taken for granted: clean clothes, an iPod, friends and his self respect.

His future is on hold, his life is in limbo, and morality has also been temporarily suspended. It is only the fragile blossoming love affair with the one person on the team who is possibly worse off that him that eventually provides Dan with the courage to create a romantic ending that defies conventional expectations.
