Wolverine sequel bound for Japan
Story by Jack Foley
HUGH Jackman has confirmed that work on a Wolverine sequel is now firmly under way.
Speaking at the Teen Choice Awards, where X-Men Origins: Wolverine was named best film, the Australian superstar told MTV that the sequel will largely be set in Japan.
It will also be based on a four-issue mini-series of comics that were co-written by Frank Miller and Chris Claremont in 1982 and will see the Wolverine character heading East to learn more fighting skills and some philosophy.
Jackman told MTV: “That’s a movie I’ve longed to make from the beginning. I think the fans love that saga, and it’s my favourite… so that’s where we’re heading.”
X-Men Origins: Wolverine has so far taken in excess of $350m worldwide following its release in May and has already spawned a spin-off featuring Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool.
