Woody Harrelson to play villain in third Planet of the Apes movie

Story by Jack Foley

WOODY Harrelson has signed up to play a villain in the third film in the Planet of the Apes franchise.

The actor will play a character known as the Colonel, although little is known about the role beyond that.

Matt Reeves, who directed 2014’s hit sequel Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, is returning to the director’s chair, while Mark Bomback is back as screenwriter.

The new film is called War for the Planet of the Apes and will continue the story of Caesar, the evolved ape who is brought to life via motion capture by Andy Serkis.

Harrelson is currently shooting LBJ, in which he will play President Lyndon B. Johnson, and also has the final Hunger Games movie opening in November.

He also won widespread critical acclaim for his role alongside Matthew McConaughey in HBO series True Detective.
