Zendaya in talks to join Hugh Jackman in P.T. Barnum biopic

Story by Jack Foley

DISNEY Channel star Zendaya is in talks to star alongside Hugh Jackman in P.T. Barnum biopic The Greatest Showman.

If successful, the young star will also line up alongside Zac Efron and Michelle Williams, who are also in advanced talks to join the project.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Zendaya would play a trapeze artist that Efron’s character falls for.

The Greatest Showman marks a long-held labour of love for Jackman, who has spent years developing the project.

Michael Arndt, who wrote the screenplay for Toy Story 3, is penning the script, while Justin Paul and Benj Pasek, the song-writing team who worked on NBC’s musical series Smash as well as the stage musicals James & The Giant Peach and A Christmas Story: the Musical, are writing a number of original songs.

The film will focus on the true story of Barnum, the founder of the circus that became the famous traveling Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.

Zendaya, the Disney Channel star of KC Undercover, is making major strides into movies, having also just been cast in Spider-Man: Homecoming as the female lead opposite Tom Holland.
