ZOE Kravitz is to play Catwoman in Matt Reeves’ forthcoming DC film, The Batman.

The Big Little Lies actress reportedly landed the role after beating the likes of Ana de Armas, Ella Balinska and Eiza Gonzalez.

She reportedly read with leading man Robert Pattinson over the weekend following a testing process earlier in the month.

Reeves is directing the new DC film, which is being described as a more grounded take on the Caped Crusader. It’ll also offer up a rogue’s gallery of antagonists, rather than one nemesis.

Jeffrey Wright is already on board as Batman ally Commissioner Jim Gordon, with Jonah Hill reportedly being courted for either The Penguin or The Riddler.

Catwoman is another of Batman’s classic foes as well as one of his longest-lasting loves.

A cat burglar whose weapon of choice is a whip, the anti-hero is the alter ego of Selina Kyle.

The character became a fixture on the 1960s Batman television show, in which she was played by Julie Newmar, Lee Meriwether and Eartha Kitt.

But she has also enjoyed several big screen outings, with Michelle Pfeiffer portraying her in 1992’s Batman Returns and Anne Hathaway donning the costume for 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises.

Halle Berry also played her in an ill-fated solo outing in 2004, which became a notorious box office bomb.

Kravitz has recently appeared as Leta Lestrange in Warner Bros’ Harry Potter spin-off, Fantastic Beasts, and has already voiced the role of Catwoman in 2017’s The Lego Batman Movie.

The Batman is set to open on June 25, 2021.
