Alanis Morissette announces Brixton date (2008)

Alanis Morissette

Story by Jack Foley

ALANIS Morrisette will be hitting the road in June on a worldwide tour starting in Europe and including two UK dates.

British fans can catch her performing classic hits and much-buzzed-about new material at Birmingham’s Academy on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 (tickets priced £28.50) and at London’s Brixton Academy (£32.50) on Thursday, June 19.

Morissette’s latest album, Flavors of Entanglement, is said to balance world and folk-influenced tracks against the cool pop leanings of producer Guy Sigsworth, who has previously worked with Bjork, Madonna and Imogen Heap (as part of the duo Frou Frou).

Indeed, it was his Frou Frou work and, in particular the song Let Go, that captured Morissette’s attention and she called him immediately and, during the ensuing conversation, realised “they were on the same page”.

The album includes the tracks Not As We, which features only piano and vocals, and Moratorium, which – according to the singer – is “essentially a song about my readiness to stop repeating bad patterns”.
