Story by Jack Foley

ALEX Winston has announced a new UK tour in March and April 2012 in support of her debut album on March 5.

The Detroit born singer will play London’s XOYO as part of her tour.

The European dates are (all 2012):

22 – Hare & Hounds, Birmingham
23 – Thekla, Bristol
24 – AB Club, Brussels
26 – La Maroquinerie, Paris
27 – Abart, Zurich
28 – Ampere, Munich
29 – Luxor, Cologne
31 – Lido, Berlin

April
1 – Knust, Hamburg
3 – Paradiso, Amsterdam
4 – XOYO, London

King Con, Winston’s forthcoming debut on V2, is being hailed as an exhilarating collection of songs.

The album title reflects the multi-instrumentalist’s innate fascination in the pretenders of the world: everyday con-men, cult leaders and sham preachers.

Having already garnered over 750,000 hits on YouTube and been featured in TV adverts for Hyundai and TK Maxx, Choice Notes will be getting a full release on March 5.

Most of the songs on Alex’s debut LP are inspired by books and documentaries about marginal sub-cultures in America, with the resulting record almost acting as a musical adaptation of the works of Errol Morris and Louis Theroux.

King Con – the suggestion that an Elvis impersonator is the ultimate con – came to Alex after spending several months in an Elvis costume herself whilst promoting her recent single Velvet Elvis.
