Alphabeat announce UK tour (2009)

Alphabeat

Story by Jack Foley

ALPHABEAT have announced a series of gigs in support of their sophomore album, including a night at London’s Heaven.

The dates are planned to coincide with the release of the first single from their new album, a retro dance-pop rave-o-rama called The Spell, and see the band visiting seven venues in October and November.

The tour dates are (all 2009):

October

26 – Glasgow, Classic Grand
27 – Newcastle Academy 2
28 – Preston, 53 Degrees
29 – Bristol Thekla
31 – Manchester Club Academy

November

1 – Leeds Cockpit
4 – London Heaven

Tickets are on sale now and cost £11, apart from the London date which costs £12.50.

Alphabeat will release their new album in January. It leaves behind their Duran Duran/B52s-esque guise (influences which defined their critically acclaimed debut album This Is Alphabeat), channelling instead this time the spirit and sound of the best dance hits of the late Eighties and early Nineties a la Snap! and Black Box.
