Nitin Sawhney

Story by Jack Foley

NITIN Sawhney and XX Teens are among the artists taking part in this year’s BBC Electric Proms, taking place in London and Liverpoll from October 22 to 26, 2008.

The expanded event will see bands performing in Liverpool for the first time, with The Last Shadow Puppets and Tony Christie playing in that city.

London, meanwhile, will play host to Sawhney and The London Undersound Orchestra, The Streets, Wild Beasts and XX Teens.

Tickets for the five-day festival will go on sale on September 17, 2008.

The event is normally held around various venues in Camden, including The Roundhouse, KOKO and The Barfly and consistently attracts some cutting edge talent.

Last year’s line-up boasted the Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party, Editors, Reverend And The Makers, Mark Ronson, Chemical Brothers and Sir Paul McCartney among the star-studded bill.

Further acts for this year’s shows are to be announced in due course, along with confirmed venues and dates.
