Ben Folds to play London's Royal Opera House (2015)

Ben Folds

Story by Jack Foley

BEN Folds will make his Royal Opera House debut on August 12, 2015.

The multi-platinum selling, singer/songwriter/producer will be playing new pop songs and familiar hits with yMusic, a sextet ensemble of some of the most sought after instrumentalists working in music today.

The latest in must-see Royal Opera House summer pop shows, Ben Folds follows Rufus Wainwright’s acclaimed five-night residency in 2011 and Antony & The Johnsons two memorable 2013 shows.

“The arrangements audiences will hear are straight up rock using the odd instrumentation of piano, cello, viola, violin, flute/piccolo/alto flute, trumpet/French horn and clarinet/bass clarinet, with no bass,” says Folds. “It’s frankly one of the most exciting projects I’ve ever worked on.”

The new songs will be released this summer on a landmark Ben Folds album.

Folds, a resident of Nashville, Tennessee, owns and operates the historic RCA Studio A which is his creative hub where he records, composes and produces.

He is a long time advocate of orchestras, serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the Nashville Symphony and as a member of the distinguished Artist Committee for Americans with Aids.

Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday, March 20 and are available only from the Royal Opera House box office or the ROH website. Tickets cost £75, £65, £55, £45, £35 and £25.
