Beth Orton cancels UK tour (2006)

Beth Orton

Story by Jack Foley

BETH Orton has been forced to cancel her forthcoming UK tour due to her pregnancy.

The singer is in the late stages of pregnancy and has reportedly been advised by doctors that it would be in her and her baby’s interests not to go ahead with the scheduled tour dates in September.

In a statement announcing her decision, Orton emphasised that nothing is wrong with the pregnancy. She has also apologised for any inconvenience or disappointment caused.

And she will still play a one-off show with folk legend Bert Jansch at London’s Spitz club on September 29.

Free refunds will be given to ticket holders for the following dates:

8 – Edinburgh Queen’s Hall
9- Manchester Bridgewater Hall
10 – Cardiff St David’s Hall
12 – London Hammersmith Apollo
13 – Portsmouth Guildhall
14 – Birmingham Symphony Hall
