Story by Jack Foley

FOLLOWING a five-year hiatus, breaking the merchandise sales record at Reading & Leeds Festivals this year and sold out shows in Scotland and Eire in August, pop punk pioneers Blink 182 have confirmed a run of UK arena dates next summer (2011).

The shows will mark their first UK headlining Arena tour in over seven years.

The full list of 2011 UK dates are as follows (all July 2011):

7 – Sheffield Motorpoint Arena
8 – Manchester MEN Arena
12 – Newcastle Metro Radio Arena
13 – Nottingham Trent FM Arena
15 – Birmingham LG Arena
16 – Cardiff International Arena
18 & 19 – London 02 Arena

Tickets for the shows will go on sale on Friday, November 26 and are priced at £32.50 regionally and £35 in London.

Blink 182 were formed in San Diego in 1992 by Mark Hoppus and Tom De Longe and later joined by drummer Travis Barker.

The band’s breakthrough album, Enema Of The State, was released in 1999 and went on to sell in excess of 15 million copies worldwide.

Their next two albums, Take Off Your Pants And Jacket (2001) and blink 182 (2003) cemented their position as a pop punk supergroup.

Additionally, the band have won a number of MTV Awards throughout their career.

A new album will be released in Summer 2011 via Universal/Island Records.
