BLUR have announced plans to unveil two new songs on Twitter.

The tracks, Under The Westway and The Puritan, have been written for the band’s forthcoming Hyde Park gig, and will be available to be heard for the first time live via a Twitter stream on July 2 from 6.15pm.

The first track will be performed at 6.15pm and will be followed by an exclusive interview with the band prior to the second track, which will then be performed at 7.15pm.

Following the live stream, both songs will be available to download, while a limited edition double-A 7” single will be released by Parlophone on August 6.

Blur perform their keenly anticipated Hyde Park gig on August 12 and will also perform three warm-up gigs ahead of that date – all of which are sold out.

Commenting on Blur’s decision to use Twitter as a platform to showcase new material, Tony Wang, UK general manager of Twitter, said: “People all over the world are connecting with the musicians they love on Twitter. Blur is taking this idea even further by debuting two new songs through a live stream and having a direct conversation with their fans on the platform.

“They know what their fans want and are setting the pace for the future of artist engagement online.”
