Bob Dylan to release Christmas charity album

Story by Jack Foley

BOB Dylan has confirmed plans to release his first album of Christmas songs in aid of charity.

Christmas in the Heart is due for release through Columbia Records on October 13 and will include seasonal favourites such as Winter Wonderland, Here Comes Santa Claus and Little Drummer Boy.

The US royalties from the sale of the album will go to the Feeding America charity, an organisation that provides “food security to people in need”.

It is anticipated that 1.4 million people can be fed with the proceeds given Dylan’s enduring popularity in his homeland.

Dylan himself commented: “It’s a tragedy that more than 35 million people in this country alone – 12 million of those, children – often go to bed hungry and wake up each morning unsure of where their next meal is coming from.

“I join the good people of Feeding America in the hope that our efforts can bring some food security to people in need during this holiday season.”

Internationally, royalties will be distributed to similar organisations that provide meals for vulnerable people.
