Bruce Springsteen to play Hyde Park festival (2009)

Story by Jack Foley

BRUCE Springsteen and The E Street Band have been confirmed to play a headline slot at the annual Hard Rock Calling festival in London’s Hyde Park on June 28, 2009.

The Boss will also be joined by The Dave Matthews Band and The Gaslight Anthem for the bash, which also takes place on June 27.

The appearance will mark the first time Springsteen has played a festival outside of the USA and fuels speculation that he also intends to appear at the now sold-out Glastonbury festival in Somerset (which takes place over the same weekend).

He did appear at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium last year, for two sold-out nights, and has just released his latest album, to widespread acclaim, entitled Working On A Dream.

Tickets for the 45,000-capacity Hard Rock Calling Festival go on sale on Friday, February 13 at 9am.

Hard Rock Calling is now established as one of the most important London events on the UK musical calendar.

Past years have seen Aerosmith, Eric Clapton, Roger Waters, The Police and The Who create what is now identified as the most prestigious and ‘must be at’ open air music event in the UK.
